On 24 May, the Independent Integrity Unit (IIU) will be leading a session at the 2023 OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum in Paris. This conference will focus on policy solutions and business innovations that strengthen integrity and fight corruption.

This session, titled "Leveraging Machine Learning to Strengthen Integrity in Climate Finance," will explore the application of machine learning and intelligent automation in identifying potential integrity vulnerabilities, accountability gaps, and other risks in climate projects.

Speaking at this event from the IIU will be Albert Lihalakha, Head of the Unit, a.i. and Liam O'Dea, Lead Data Consultant. They will also be joined by Lilian Macharia, Director of the Division of Portfolio Management (DPM), and Gaurav Godhwani, Executive Director and Co-Founder of CivicDataLab, a research lab that works to enhance civic engagements in India.

IIU will discuss the development of the Integrity Due Diligence Platform (IDDP), which utilizes cloud computing, machine learning, and intelligent automation for risk scoring and maintaining integrity in climate finance. They will examine the IDDP's role in evaluating the effectiveness of policies in GCF-funded activities and identifying potential integrity violations through Proactive Integrity Reviews (PIR). DPM will highlight a use case of applying risk assessment methodology to critical infrastructure sectors in Jamaica. CivicDataLab will explain how they use machine learning to enable data-driven decision-making at scale to address climate challenges in India.
