The Independent Integrity Unit (IIU) collaborated with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) to develop a detailed curriculum on the theme climate change and corruption. 

This module was delivered to the IACA Master’s students in Anti-Corruption Studies and Anti-Corruption Compliance and Collective Action. It consists of pre-recorded presentations, a self-assessment quiz, and course materials. 

IIU Integrity & Compliance Manager Dr. Sanjeev Narrainen developed and delivered the course to the students in Austria, Vienna, on 4 April 2024 at the IACA. In his lectures, he explained the nexus between climate change and corruption and how transparency, accountability and integrity are pivotal for ensuring effective project implementation while ensuring that corruption is kept at bay. The course was attended by 31 students from a variety of geographical regions. 

The course also explored topics such as understanding why climate action is at high risk from corruption, strategies to manage these risks, and how to implement climate governance practices. Mr. Pawan Singh, the Director of Academic Programmes at IACA, appreciated the collaboration with IIU for this module, highlighting the importance of raising awareness on integrity in climate finance and taking urgent action to address climate change. 

The IACA is an international organisation and educational institution based in Austria. They offer four master's programs in anti-corruption as well as other periodic trainings and seminars. The academy has over 5,100 alumni from 168 countries.
