The Independent Integrity Unit (IIU) hosted a panel event in commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day, which is a UN awareness day that is acknowledged each year on December 9.

In 2003, the United Nations designated that the 9th of December would be International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD), with the purpose of raising awareness of corruption and the efforts that are ongoing to counteract it.

The campaign for International Anti-Corruption Day 2024-2025 focuses on the role young guardians of integrity play as advocates, raising awareness about corruption and its impacts on their communities. They will actively participate in discussions, share their experiences and propose innovative solutions to combat corruption. The campaign will amplify voices of integrity leaders of tomorrow, allowing them to express their concerns and aspirations, with the hope that their appeals will be heard and acted upon.

This year, IIU highlighted four partners from GCF Direct Access Entities to share their insights from the 3rd GCF Integrity Forum, which took place in Songdo, South Korea, from 5-7 November and how they are applying lessons learned to projects in their own countries.

The panel featured integrity professionals from:

  • Fiji Development Bank (Fiji)
  • Jamaica Social Investment Fund (Jamaica)
  • Profonanpe (Peru)
  • Sahara and Sahel Observatory (Tunisia)

Karen Ernst, Head of the IIU, delivered opening remarks. The panel was moderated by IIU Communications Officer Emma Johnson.
